Birtley Town Football Club are delighted to announce that our BTFC Baller’s disability section will play it’s first competitive fixture tomorrow.
Affiliated under Birtley Town Juniors and part of the wider club umbrella, BTFC Baller’s have entered the NFA Ability Counts League with fixtures to be played at St. Peter’s Sports Hub. The team are due to play two fixtures this Saturday (27th September 2025).
The club is delighted that by entering the league we can ensure that there are regular opportunities for disabled players to play football in organised competition pathways. The league ethos is to maximise enjoyment of the game and facilitate the associated physical, mental, and social health benefits of sport.
The open-age (ages 16+) league runs year-round with multiple shorter competitions played throughout the season, instead of one 9-month long competition.
Senior’s Chairman Paul Beat: “We are delighted to be able to support Carl and the players to enter this league and allow for the players to have competitive fixtures in an affiliated league. We’ve had a partnership with Baller’s for a few years now and that allows children or young adults with disabilities a brilliant opportunity to be part of structured coaching sessions. The sessions are tailored to meet the needs of each individual. Baller’s are a specialist organisation in delivering football sessions alongside developing life skills. Entering the league is the natural progression and we are really excited to have our first ever disability side.”
The side will be managed by Carl Morrison from Baller’s: “I’m delighted to announce the launch of our very first disability football team in partnership with Birtley Town! This new team will give even more people the chance to play, make friends, and enjoy the game we all love. We can’t wait to see the team grow and thrive!”
