The Hoops have signed Ryan Dougherty from South Shields FC International Academy with the intention of reinforcing their midfield options.
Ryan joined Shields in September 2023 from D1 Rider University and he was an integral part in the International Academy’s 3rd place finish in their inaugural season in the National Youth Football League U23 North Premier.
Last season Ryan featured for Washington FC in Northern League Division 2, so will be a familiar face to some around the Northern League.
This season Ryan was called up to train with the South Shields FC First Team and featured against EFL Championship side Sunderland AFC in a recent friendly.
He was also part of the Shields side that won the acclaimed Sam Bartram Memorial Trophy against Boldon CA earlier this pre-season. Hoops fans can expect to see Ryan patrolling the centre midfield, covering every blade of grass to keep the pressure on the opposition.
