Recap
The Hoops return to action as they host North Shields on Tuesday evening
Birtley Town return to The Arrowmark following a free weekend that allowed a number of players to rest niggling injuries. Owen Lancaster missed the penalty shoot-out victory over Bishop Auckland last week but is expected to return to the squad for the visit of North Shields. Ben Pentland returned from a six week injury layoff against The Two Blues. Birtley have no fresh injury concerns heading into the fixture with only Alex Francis remaining as a long-term absentee.
North Shields advanced to the last 64 of the FA Vase following a 3-1 win over Charnock Richard. Shields have found their feet this season following a slow start to the season. The Robins won just one of their opening five league fixtures but have since propelled themselves into the top half. An impressive win at Shildon was followed up with a 3-1 victory over league leaders Redcar Athletic. Shields have two games in hand against their play-off rivals and a win on Tuesday could send them into 7th, just two points off the play-off positions.
Birtley supporters will be hoping that James Proctor can continue his impressive form against The Robins. Proctor scored a late penalty as Birtley drew 1-1 at North Shields in July. Last season, a Proctor double secured a 2-1 victory as Birtley ended their home league campaign in style.

Manager’s Corner
Reece Chapman: “”We’re starting to get around to the second round of fixtures and North Shields are one of the sides who have looked good this season, specifically recently where they had a really good win in the Vase. We know it’s going to be tough but we’re in a good moment. We’ve had the positive result against bishops last week and know that if we can get near that we’re capable of picking up more points on Tuesday. We’re hoping for a decent crowd to back the lads especially as the club have plans to mark our respects for armistice day. Availability is still up and down with injuries, but we’ll pick from what we have available and look to go from there.”
