Birtley Town vs Redcar Athletic

Recap

Birtley take on league leaders Redcar Athletic at The Arrowmark tomorrow.

The Hoops host league leaders Redcar Athletic tomorrow afternoon at The Arrowmark Home Improvements Stadium off the back of their first win since the end of October when they defeated Northallerton Town 2-0 last Saturday where goals from defensive duo Sam Hedley and Owen Lancaster brought three welcome points back to DH3.

While that was happening, Redcar were going nap against Carlisle City winning comfortably with six different scorers in an 8-0 victory, something that was followed up in the midweek derby against Marske United when they scored five goals without reply.

In the last meeting between the two sides at Green Lane in September, Birtley were pegged back twice by the Steelmen. Goals from Benji Shodeinde and Matthew Ward were cancelled out by a first half injury-time rocket from Mark Anderson before a penalty ten minutes from time by Bradley Fewster rescued a point for the home side.

Redcar have scored a massive 97 goals in all competitions so far this season, 79 of which are in the league. Bradley Fewster has claimed 23 (16 league and 7 cup) which includes three from the penalty spot. Adam Boyes follows on 17 (13 league and 4 cup) which includes one penalty and Oscar Fletcher one goal behind him on 16 (14 league and 2 cup). Midfielder Mark Anderson is on 12 goals which was helped by his midweek hat-trick against Marske.

Birtley have Scott Heslop on 11 goals (8 league and 3 cup), James Proctor on 7 (6 league and 1 cup) with four of those coming from the penalty spot. Matthew Ward follows on 5 where all of them have come in league action.
