Crook Town vs Birtley Town

Recap

Birtley Town make their last away journey of the year as they travel to Crook Town on Saturday with a 3pm kick-off.

The Hoops will be buoyed by a strong performance against Guisborough last time out.  Nick Marley’s goal was cancelled out by Joe Pickett but Birtley were much improved in Bryson and Foster’s first game since returning as interim managers.

Birtley enter the fixture with a clean bill of health. Owen Lancaster looks to have shaken off a tight hamstring that he picked up against Guisborough. The Hoops now enter a busy period with three games in seven days. The trip to Millfield is followed by back-to-back festive home games against Whickham and Carlisle City.

Crook were victorious when the two sides met back in September. Matty Ward opened the scoring but his opener was quickly cancelled out by Josh McDonald. Corey Nicholson eventually scored the winner through the second half.

Crook go into the game in brilliant form. A fantastic win in FA Vase 3rd round has set up an away tie against Albion Sports. In league form, Crook have taken 13 points from a possible 15. That run has put Crook firmly in contention for the play-offs with The Black and Ambers just five points off 5th place with two games in-hand. Birtley will need to be aware of Sonni Coleman who has 15 goals so far this season.

Birtley will be hoping for a much needed three points as they enter into the busy festive period. We hope to see a few Hoops supporters make their way down to Millfield for the game.
