Birtley Town and Shildon AFC face off against each other for the second time in three days as an FA Cup replay takes place at Crook Town tonight.
The Hoops were rescued by a late Charlie Armin equaliser on Saturday as Birtley remained in the draw for the First Qualifying Round. The winners of tonight’s tie will travel to Witton Albion on Saturday 30th August. The Step 4 outfit are based just South-West of Manchester. Attention first of all turns to a difficult tie away to Shildon.
In team news, Max Campbell will make his first away start for the club in goal following a brilliant debut on Saturday against The RailwayMen. Birtley were buoyed by the return of a number of key players at the weekend with Kaleb Young, Dale Burrell and Alex Francis all back in the squad. Club skipper Francis nearing a return following a year out with a knee injury.
The Hoops know they face an uphill task in order to progress from the cup. The Hoops haven’t won away at Shildon since 1996 and their last two visits have both ended up with 3-0 defeats. Andrei Ardelean scored once again against Birtley on Saturday and he has enjoyed much success against The Hoops in previous years.
After a fiery game on Saturday, the lads will be hoping for a strong backing in Crook. FA Cup Replays are a much discussed talking point across all levels of the game but there is no doubt both sides will be giving their all as they look to progress to the First Qualifying Round.

Admission prices are £7 for Adults and £5 for Concessions (including Over 65’s and Under 15s). Under 5’s are FREE.
The game has to be decided on the night so should the scores remain level at 90 minutes, extra time will be followed by a penalty shoot-out if necessary.
