Club News: Hoops 26/27 pre-season dates announced.

We are delighted to announce the dates of five pre-season friendlies as the Hoops prepare for their fourth season in the Northern League Division One.

To begin our preparations for the new season, we travel to Derwentside to face Annfield Plain AFC on Saturday 2nd July (2pm kick-off). Annfield play in the Wearside League Premier Division at Step 7 where they came 15th last season. On the following Monday (6th) we travel to Washington Hub to face Leam Rangers who are also in the Wearside League Premier Division. The Leam came in 2nd place last season behind Champions Seaton Carew who were promoted to Step 6 and will be looking to go one better this time around. Attention then turns to three home friendlies and we are hoping to confirm details of the friendly on either Friday 10th or Saturday 11th July in the coming days. Keep an eye on socials for that one.

The second home friendly will be against higher league opponents as we host Step 4 Consett on Tuesday 14th. ‘The Steelmen’ enjoyed a very solid season last campaign with a symmetrical record of 16 wins, 10 draws and 16 losses which led to a 10th place finish. We will then end our preparation games with a Friday night game at the Arrowmark against local rivals Chester-le-Street Town who came 7th in Northern League Division Two last campaign, eight points short of the play offs. The Cestrians have already strengthened in the close season with the acquisition of Mark Anderson as they look to mount a push towards the play-off positions.
