Our first new signing of the season is young goalkeeper Alfie Gordon who joins us from Newcastle Benfield where he has been a first team regular over the past two seasons.
His impressive performances between the sticks caught the eye of the Hoops management team, who moved quickly to make the Birtley-born stopper their first signing of the summer.
Manager Paul Foster was delighted to bring in another local player: “Alfie was our number one target, we are delighted that he has signed from Newcastle Benfield. As a local player he will match the ethos of what we tried to achieve last season by bringing in quality local players. We know he is really eager to make a right go of things at Birtley. We are delighted he has joined us and will massively strengthen our goalkeeping department.”
Since signing for The Hoops Alfie has cemented his place as the number one. Alfie is also involved with our junior section, offering coaching session to our young goalkeepers.
