Callum joined the club after a successful promotion season with North Shields. Callum’s’ Dad, David is an ex-Birtley Town manager who led the club a very successful period in the early 00’s.
Callum came through the Newcastle United Academy, spending time at Hull City and Dunston UTS before joining the Robins. A thrilling winger with an eye for a spectacular strike, Callum played a huge role in the promotion winning side of 2022/23. In 37 appearances Callum scored 14 goals while registering a staggering 25 assists which included FIVE assists in one game in a 6-2 victory at Boldon Colliery followed by another memorable display in the 6-0 win at Bedlington where he grabbed FOUR goals.
Callum kept producing during the 2023/24 season and scored both goals in the 2-1 home victory over Penrith. A horrendous arm injury ruled Callum out for the majority of the 24/25 campaign but he has worked very hard to work on his fitness as he looks to return to the side for the 25/26 campaign.
Player Sponsor: Callum is kindly sponsored by Bob Hunter. Bob is Birtley through and through, he has held almost every role at the club ranging from Physio to Treasurer in his 25+ years. Bob has passed over the reigns to new treasurer Lee Cuthbertson but he’s is still a vital member of our team ensuring Lee has every bit of support he needs. Bob has a huge job in making sure our players and fans have enough beer to drink, no mean feat but we never see our supplies run short! Part of our management committee, Bob is great uncle to Callum and is delighted to see him wearing the green and white hoops!
