Joe rejoined Birtley at the start of the 25/26 season after making one appearance for The Hoops at the end of the 2013/14 season. A local lad, Hailes was on the scoresheet as captain of Seaham Red Star when they visited The Arrowmark on the final day of the 24/25 season. Despite impressing in that game, Birtley went on to win 3-1 but Paul Foster moved quickly to make Hailes his first signing of the Summer.
A versatile player, Hailes can play a range of positions and Hoops supporters will be looking forward to seeing him in their side.
