Matty Ward has joined us from Heaton Stannington. The exciting forward player made the move to The Stan from Chester-le-Street Town after scoring 24 goals in 36 games. Ward is another exciting young prospect added to the clubs forward line.

Having found game time difficult in the early parts of the 23/24 season, Wardy showed his quality with outstanding displays in the 4-3 win at Guisborough and 3-3 home draw against Crook Town. A superb double against Whitley Bay cemented him as a key part of the side. A stop-start 24/25 season was finished off when Ward scored in the final game of the season.

Birtley supporters will be hoping that Matty can hit the ground running in the 25/26 season.
