Scott Heslop signed for The Hoops from Ashington in October 2023 after helping the Colliers secure promotion during 22/23 season. Heslop has been promoted 3 times from the Northern league with Dunston UTS, Consett and Ashington. Hezzy started his Birtley career in fine fashion scoring an early brace on his debut at Tow Law before netting another two goals in an outstanding win at Newcastle Benfield. His goals helped Birtley climb secure a play-off position in his first season at the club.
In 24/25 Heslop started in strong fashion and scored in a superb 2-0 win over Blyth Town in the FA Cup after scoring a brace in the previous round. The team suffered a dip in form during the autumn period but it was Heslop who scored the winner in a thrilling 4-3 victory over Shildon. Finishing the season strongly, Heslop finished as Birtley’s top scorer with 21 goals and an impressive 13 assets.
