Birtley Town have strengthened their already-formidable attacking options with the signing of Jack Robson from Whickham AFC.

The rapid winger comes with an enviable pedigree, having represented the academies of the North East’s big three in Middlesbrough, Sunderland & Newcastle United. It was at the latter where he first made a name for himself, playing alongside the likes of Matty Longstaff and Elliott Anderson as part of what the coaches considered a  ‘golden generation’ of local talent.

Jack has since had spells in the USA and at Hebburn Town – where he scooped the Northern League Young Player of the Year Award – before a move to the Lang Jacks where he formed a prolific front three with Zak Atkinson and namesake Scott Robson. Away from the game, Jack is an outgoing lad with a passion for TV, appearing on the likes of Celebs Go Dating and Go Hard or Go Home.

Foss is looking forward to seeing Jack in action “We are delighted to have signed Jack. he will bring a lot of quality to the side with his pace and eye for goal. As a management team we only said we would sign players that would improve us in certain areas and Jack will certainly do that. Id like to thank Whickham for helping us sort the transfer out so quickly. We also want to say thanks to their gaffer Lee for allowing us to speak with Jack. he will go straight into the squad for our Vase Game at the weekend”.

Brysa added “I have known jack since his Newcastle days before he headed off to America and then returned to Hebburn & Whickham. Jack will give us an extra dimension. He has really good pace, he can unlock defences. He’s a great addition for us.”

Everyone at Birtley is delighted to welcome him into the fold, and we can’t wait to see him in action. The club would also like to place on record our thanks to Whickham for their assistance in this transfer. Hoops supporters will be able to see Jack make his debut on Saturday in the FA Vase against Sunderland West End.
